From the Families We Have Had the Privilege of Supporting

SP

Somsak Prasertsri

Chiang Mai, Thailand

My father passed away last year and the estate was more complex than I had anticipated — there were properties in two provinces and a question about his will's validity. The team at Wongse Dhamma handled everything calmly and kept me informed at each step. I did not feel rushed or confused at any point.

British expatriate, Chiang Mai

As a foreign national with assets in Thailand, preparing a will here was something I had been putting off for years, not knowing where to start. The initial meeting was genuinely helpful — no pressure, just a clear explanation of what the process involves. We completed the documentation a few weeks later and I left feeling much more settled about the whole thing.

Nanthawan Woranam

Mueang District, Chiang Mai

We came for the inheritance meeting after a family disagreement about how to handle a parent's affairs. Prayoon listened without taking sides and explained the legal position clearly. It took longer to reach a resolution than I had hoped, but having professional guidance throughout made the situation much more manageable. I would come back for the will preparation later this year.

Malee Kanchana

San Sai, Chiang Mai

I arranged the initial meeting mostly out of curiosity — I was not sure if I was ready to make formal decisions. The written summary they sent afterwards was very useful to read in my own time. I came back three weeks later to proceed with the will. The whole experience felt considered and unhurried.

Julien Lefebvre

French national, Chiang Mai resident

My wife is Thai and we have assets both here and in France. Nanthida was very clear about what a Thai will could and could not cover, and was honest about where we needed advice in France as well. That kind of straightforwardness is exactly what I needed. The process was professional and the fees were exactly as quoted.

Pisit Thepsiri

Doi Saket, Chiang Mai Province

Dealing with the legal side after my mother passed away was something I had been dreading. The estate was not straightforward and involved land registry matters. Wongse Dhamma walked me through each stage and handled the court liaison, which I would not have known how to do myself. The process took about four months overall, which I was told upfront was realistic.

Three Situations We Have Helped With

These accounts reflect common circumstances families face. Details have been changed to protect privacy.

01

An Expatriate Family With Assets in Two Countries

The Situation

A long-term British resident had a condominium in Chiang Mai and savings in the UK. He had no Thai will, and was concerned about what would happen to his Thai assets if he died without one.

Our Approach

After an initial consultation explaining the scope of a Thai will, we prepared a document covering his Thai assets. We also helped him understand clearly what it could not cover, so he could seek appropriate advice in the UK.

The Outcome

A valid Thai will was prepared and signed within three weeks. The client left with a clear picture of both the Thai and UK sides of his situation.

"I had been putting this off for years. It turned out to be much simpler than I expected."

02

Siblings in Disagreement After Their Father's Death

The Situation

Three adult children could not agree on how to handle their father's estate, which included land and a family home. No will had been left. The family was finding the disagreement difficult to manage alongside their grief.

Our Approach

We met with the family to explain how Thai intestacy rules apply and what the legal position of each sibling was. The estate resolution support covered the full process, including court application for executor appointment and documentation of all assets.

The Outcome

The estate was resolved over approximately five months. The family reached a shared understanding of their respective entitlements and the property was transferred according to the legal distribution.

"Having someone explain the legal position clearly helped us stop the disagreement becoming something worse."

03

A Couple Planning Ahead While Circumstances Were Calm

The Situation

A Thai couple in their fifties wanted to put their affairs in order while both were well. They had some concerns about whether their wishes would be followed if the surviving spouse remarried later.

Our Approach

The Family Inheritance Meeting helped them understand what a will could and could not address in relation to remarriage. Both then proceeded to have individual wills prepared. The options and their limitations were explained carefully before either document was drafted.

The Outcome

Two valid wills prepared within a fortnight, with each client confident that their documents reflected their intentions accurately.

"We left with a clear understanding of our situation and two documents we are both satisfied with."
